Final Project

For my project I picked a painting by Georgia O'Keeffe called "A Sunflower From Maggie." Georgia O'Keeffe (1887–1986) was an influential American modernist painter known for her impressive paintings of enlarged flowers, desert landscapes, and abstract forms. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Virginia before honing her skills at the Art Students League in New York. O'Keeffe's early work was influenced by her studies with renowned artist and teacher William Merritt Chase. After gaining recognition for her innovative use of color and form, she went on to explore the natural landscapes of New Mexico, where she found inspiration for much of her later work. Her training and independent spirit shaped a unique, pioneering artistic style that challenged traditional boundaries. To make my piece better I could have started way earlier and given myself more time so it wasn't as rushed. I should have also used underglaze since I would have been able to use more patterns and put more detail into the colors just as O'Keeffe did.
